Experimental Technique 1

Some long technical note posts on the way just like this, just a heads up!

Pieces cast in resin

When deciding on the experimental techniques I wanted to use I knew I wanted to use resin.

The resin ensures that what's encased will forever be protected, making this experimental technique perfect for my theme. Allowing me to incorporate some natural elements into my pieces.

The elements I wanted to encase are:

-some images of my inspiration

-real greenery, leaves etc.

-some black strips of thin plastic representing the man-made, rigid aspect of my inspiration

Another reason why I have chosen to use this technique is that it requires little expertise, tools and equipment, just a measuring cup and something to use as a stirrer. It does requires plenty of time to properly set.

I feel that this technique is experimental because no 2 resin samples I have created turn out the same and always turn out clean in any mold.

The suitability of this technique for introducing organic materials allows anything to be cast in resin which with my designs and inspiration easily achieves this.
